How it started.

In the humble hills of Rogers, KY lies 26 acres of privately owned forest. Nature Rooms RRG exists as a place of refuge. A place of exploration. A place of peace. We are adventurous folks with an innate desire to connect with nature.

We started Nature Rooms at Red River Gorge as a place for our own family to retreat. My wife and I were looking for a place to recharge amidst the craziness of our daily schedules. Our family and our kids were in need of a place to disconnect from the world in order to reconnect with one another. And we all needed some time to unplug from our everyday lives, to process our thoughts and feelings, and to give ourselves some space to connect with God and with our purpose. The truth is… life can be hard, beautiful, and exhausting all at the same time- and Nature Rooms is our solution to help create some more space for the good stuff.

Flashback several years ago and we were just in the midst of adopting our son. He had gone through the foster care system and we started to learn about this concept know as “respite”. Respite is a short period of rest or relief from something difficult or unpleasant. As we began to learn more throughout our journey in foster care, we realized how true of a concept respite is for us all. That we ALL have difficult and unpleasant things in our life, and that true healing comes when we create space in our lives to restore.

+Sometimes we go through very heavy things- like mending a marriage.

+Sometimes it’s something smaller- like stress for an upcoming test or exam.

+Sometimes we don’t know how we feel, why we feel it, or what the heck we’re even doing.

Either way, retreating is a habit that each person needs in order to live their best life. And we don’t retreat because we are running away from our issues, we retreat because it’s a healthy rhythm for us to be able to process them. We truly hope that your stay at Nature Rooms will help you to do just that— retreat. There is more beauty to “getting away” than a selfie in front of a mountain. The true beauty in traveling, in exploring, in retreating is our ability to get rest.

So, rest and adventure well my friends! And thank you for learning more about Nature Rooms. If you would ever like to meet up for a cup of coffee , or to hear more about our story, please drop us a message! It would truly be our honor to get to know you.
